AGM the largest ever

AGM the largest ever

AGM-NewsCredit union members and stakeholders gathered at the NZCU Employees Annual General Meeting on Thursday 3rd November 2016. Held at the RSA Landmark Bar and Function Centre in Panmure, the 2016 AGM was the largest ever and provided an opportunity for members to have their say and vote on important rule changes for the credit union

The yearly gathering of credit union members at the AGM provides an opportunity for members to meet each other and have a say on what matters to them.

Feedback sought from members at the 2016 AGM included how NZCU Employees can support members to meet their financial needs, what products will help them to reach their financial goals faster and what else they would you like to see from their credit union.

General Manager of NZCU Employees Kona Hatalafale says the 2016 AGM achieved the best-ever AGM turnout, since being formed 45 years ago.

“We had 68 members, 10 non-members and an additional 7 stakeholders in attendance, which is by far the largest turn out we’ve ever had,” says Kona.

“One of our members has been with us for 39 of those 45 AGMs and he has never seen a turnout to match it.”

An important vote to change the governing rules for the New Zealand Employees Credit Union Rules was also undertaken.

Rule changes that were passed in the vote allow more people to join the credit union as members, changed the way Directors are appointed, and changes to the right of voting for members to those over 16 years of age.

“The rule changes that were passed allow our credit union more flexibility, especially in terms of growing our member base,” says Kona.

“I’m confident that with these rule changes, combined with a refreshed strategic direction and the feedback sought at our AGM, NZCU Employees will grow from strength to strength.”
